Kick That Habit

Drawing on trace elements of Jazz and Arte Povera, Swiss duo Andy Guhl and Norbert Moslang use a range of cracked everyday electronic equipment to create abstract sound environments. Alongside free improvisation, they’ve devoted over 30 years to obsessively fathoming the potential of generative composition by analogue, non-computer-steered systems for their Voice Crack project. Peter Liechti’s “Kick That Habit” is set to be a music film classic - its artful, cinematically unique sequences transcend the usual parameters of documentary.
Peter Liechti:

Studies of Art History at the University of Zurich.
Zurich College of Art and Design, diploma in teaching drawing.
Since 1986 freelance work in films as scriptwriter, director, producer and cameraman.

MKM（Günter Müller + Jason Kahn + Norbert Möslang） - intro in situ live

MKM formed itself spontaneously when the individual members–Günter Müller, Jason Kahn, Norbert Möslang–were asked to give an artists talk at Tokyo University in 2006, while on tour of Japan with the Signal Quintet. As talking was not enough, the three musicians were asked to play a short set. The results were so good that the three decided to go on working together as a group, in addition to their collaborations (with Aube, Keiichiri Shibuya, Maria and as part of the Signal Quinet).
In 2007 MKM went on an extensive tour of Mexico and South America, with concerts in the cities of Mérida, Mexico City, Bogotá, Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. They have also toured in Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
MKM´s sound hovers between the at times harsh rhythmic noise of Norbert Möslang´s cracked everyday electronics and the rich sonorities of Günter Müller´s percussion-based samples and electronics. Jason Kahn´s work on analog synthesizer bridges these two worlds, adding high frequency interference and processed piezo microphone and short wave radio input.
MKM´s music will appeal to enthusiasts of noise, experimental electronics and improvised music.

他们将在2008年11月来北京表演。
MKM的三位成员都是欧洲噪音、即兴、实验电子乐界的明星。在最近10年里，对自由即兴和声响探索做出了开拓性的贡献，也都是自制乐器、设备改造方面的行家。作为厂牌经营者，君特•穆勒是For 4 Ears的老板，詹森•坎恩是CUT的老板。诺伯特•莫斯朗也是Mini Midi 2008艺人安迪•盖尔的长期合作者，Voice Crack的成员。
MKM的组成，是因为2006年在Signal Quintet的日本巡演中，在东京大学受邀演讲、表演。因为表演结果不错，就形成了这个乐队。他们随后和Aube、涩谷庆一郎、Maria 合作，也作为Signal Quintet的一部分演出。
2007年，他们进行了墨西哥和南美巡演。也在荷兰、德国和瑞士进行了巡演。

since June of 2005, Waterland Kwanyin is the first open plate for experimental, improvised musicians and sound artists who live or transiently in Beijing. as the idea from KwanYin Records, it offers opportunities for artists from different background who now (or in the future) be into free music, e.g. abstract and spiritual sound, field recording mix, noise, electroacoustic, sonic explore, as well visual art, body performance, etc.
