Simon Frank
Striving to strike the balance between all out noise and magnetic rhythms, Simon Frank uses keyboard, voice and effects to craft lo-fi drone punk. Starting to play music in 2006, he formed the Indian art punk band Fear the Talon, noise duo Hot & Cold, and at the end of 2007, the no wave project Speak Chinese or Die with Zhang Shouwang of Carsick Cars. Seeking a combination of the freedom and energy of improv with songs, his bands have played shows and improvised with everyone from White and Mafeisan, to Torturing Nurse and Muscle Snog.

Saxophone player, poet, voice experimenter.
He had found indie/experimental rock band “the Tipsy Verse” in 2001. Afterwards he held a concurrent post as the keyboard player in “Pipedream Princess”. found “Walnut Room” with Feng Hao in 2007.

since June of 2005, Waterland Kwanyin is the first open plate for experimental, improvised musicians and sound artists who live or transiently in Beijing. as the idea from KwanYin Records, it offers opportunities for artists from different background who now (or in the future) be into free music, e.g. abstract and spiritual sound, field recording mix, noise, electroacoustic, sonic explore, as well visual art, body performance, etc.
