splinter vs stalin

splinter vs stalin组建于2003年的意大利托斯卡纳。他们是两个完全古怪和神经质的意大利喜剧演员，来自80年代。发行大量mp3作品之后，在2004年，他们开始在世界各地的小型独立厂牌发行磁带和CDR，例如“No Lyrics from Brazil ”。
此后他们发表了大量CDR、mp3、合辑（厂牌包括Audiobot, Turgid Animal, Obscurica, Kakashka, Benekkea, Lona Records……）；表演了大量现场；煮了成吨的意大利面（然后扔向了观众）。
他们的声音混合了harsh noise、早期工业音乐的影响、废旧电子设备以及电子游戏，还有弱智喜剧表演，他们会更快的把这些东西放到火箭里去，然后直接发射到太阳上去，以解救他们的祖国意大利。
最近他们在香港的独立厂牌Lona Records发行了第一张亚洲唱片，Frassiconsole。
下一个项目是：在比利时的Audiobot发表6 CDR套装唱片，分别与Choi Joonyong, Toby Dammit, Foia, IDX1274, Tokyo Sundown和Panicsville合作完成。

“Formed in Tuscany, Italy around 2003 as a total joke involving videogames and an insane passion for horribly-moustached italian comedians from the eighties, the Splinter vs Stalin duo slowly gained confidence by releasing many albums in mp3 format. In 2004 they started to release tapes and cdrs on various little labels around the world, such as No Lyrics from Brazil.
Their first real “debut” though is 2005’s 45 Ovulo, pro-cdr printed in collaboration with Zos Kia Sounds, Wendy Van Dusen’s label, full of demented featurings (Wertham, MGZ, Neither/Neither World, Toby Dammit, Shogo, Gogo).
From then is a stairway to Frassica, many cdrs, mp3s, tracks on compilations have been released (on Audiobot, Turgid Animal, Obscurica, Kakashka, Benekkea, Lona Records etc.), quite a lot of gigs have been played, and surely tons of pasta have been cooked (and thrown to the audience) .
Mixing harsh noise and early industrial influences with dumb electronics, videogames and plain annoying comedy, they’ll soon save Italy by putting it into a rocket directed to the sun.
Currently supporting their first asian release Frassiconsole, a 3″cdr on Lona Records from Hong Kong!
Next projects: 6cdr box on Audiobot (Belgium) containing 6 different collaboration works with Choi Joonyong, Toby Dammit, Foia, IDX1274, Tokyo Sundown and Panicsville.

IOIOI

IOIOI是一个意大利女孩的个人项目。
IOIOI演奏吉他，笔记本，贝司，人声和各种玩具。她的音乐包罗了自由形式的抽象流行乐、暧昧的吉他自由即兴、笔记本互动实验。
是通过瞬间的即兴和拼贴而得到的难以界定的LO-FI综合体。
她还深受中国功夫的影响，现场表演力极强，有日本女性声音艺术家的气质和中国功夫的舞台表演。

IOIOI

IOIOI is the solo project by an italian girl.
IOIOI plays guitars, laptop, bass, voice, no-words and toys. Her music is a kind of free form pop abstraction, vague guitar improvisation, alternating with laptop experimentalism.
All is composed in one breath, improvised and collaged in an undefined lo-fi combination.

沈静

沈静是北京新一代前卫音乐的代表人物之一。她的音乐生涯开始于1998年，16岁，从那时到2006年8月，她一直担任挂在盒子上乐队的鼓手。2003 年，她开始着迷于前卫/噪音，很快，鼓不再足够使她安静，来自Autobahn（Kraftwerk）的重复脉冲催眠了她的摇滚乐心脏，这是一条不能回头的路……
作为沈静独特的成长背景，她父亲为中国政府的太空计划工作，她因此深受“宇宙”影响，在她很小的时候就梦想成为第一个登上月球的女性。后来，所有这些信息都成为她内心的一部分，她探索宇宙的声音，以及所有宇宙和声音的关系。
2006年2月，她和Carsick Cars乐队的守望组建了一个新组合，White，目标是发展一种来源于Einsturzende Neubauten、Throbbing Gristle、日本噪音艺术家、John Cage、Steve Reich、电子极简派以及中国传统古筝大师的宇宙工业与噪音之声。这一年，他们成功地与来自纽约的前卫音乐传奇人物Elliott Sharp合作，与Einsturzende Neubauten的主脑Blixa Bargeld合作。目前，沈静也作为个人，用人声、Korg MS-20合成器和采样来创造她自己的声音世界。随后，她又加入了乐评人、声音艺术家颜峻组建的开放即兴团体铁观音。
关于她目前的工作和艺术发展，她说：Sun Ra曾经说过，一个音乐家的灵魂应该被欢乐和自由照亮。这就是我希望从我的作品中放射出来的精神。独立于所有事物的自由，对我非常重要。为了独立，要有强大的人格，我认为对创造有意义的艺术来说这是必需的，我认为独立是一种控制与考验你自己的无畏的能力。人们怎样看待我或者我所做的事情并不重要，它只和自我实现有关，它本身就是一项耐力测试。对我来说，用这种方式完成一件事情，要比一觉醒来拥有魔力更让我满足。真正的启迪，是艰苦的工作。它要求勇敢和果断，而最终的报偿就是被世界遗弃，在你自己的道路上自由宁静地漂移。我的作品就是这种持续斗争的产物。它是我前往宇宙孤寂幸福的旅程的声音。

Shenggy

Beijing’s Shenggy is one of the new generation of avant-garde representatives in China and also the first and only female harsh noise player from the country. She has also set up her self-titled label for the female noise and avant-garde ladies in the world.

biography

She started her music career in 1998 as a drummer when she was 16 years old, but after a revelatory, watershed year in 2003, her work began to demonstrate increasingly noticeable avant-garde / noise tendencies. Suddenly the drum kit was no longer enough: static and silence hypnotised her heart and she has never looked back.
Her father works for the Chinese government’s space programme so she grew up in the middle of Beijing’s astronomic and scientific community; as such she was inflienced by dreams of the cosmos since she was a young girl with an ambition to become the first woman on the moon; that dream still stands, but now she wants not only to land on the moon, but to play her music there too.
In February 2006 she formed a new unit, White, with Xiao Wang of Carsick Cars, with the aim of developing a form of cosmic industrialism and noise that makes reference to everything from the phase patterns of Steve Reich, Einsturzende Neubauten, Throbbing Gristle, Japanese noise artists, John Cage and the gu zheng masters of Chinese classical music.
This year has seen, too, successful collaborations with visiting New York avant-garde legend Elliott Sharp, Branca collaborator John Myers, electronic pioneer Alvin Curran, and Einsturzende Neubauten’s leader Blixa Bargeld.
She is also currently working on a solo performance art project that is focused on creating sonic universes with only her voice, Korg MS-20 synth, tape recorder, and a handful of samples.

philosophy

Sun Ra once said that a musician’s soul should be lit by happiness and freedom. This is the spirit I hope radiates from my work. Freedom independence from all things is very important to me. It takes a really strong person to be independent, and I see this as necessary for creating meaningful art. It works the other way, too, in that the process of creation is liberating in itself.
I see independence as a kind of ability to control and examine yourself without flinching. What people think of me and what I do is not important.
It all about self-realisation, which itself is a kind of endurance test. To me, achieving something in this way is far more satisfying than to have woken up one day with a magical talent. True enlightenment is hard work. It requires bravery and determination, but the ultimate reward is to be discarded by the world, left in peace to float freely along your own path.
My work is the product of this continuing struggle. It is the sound of my journey towards the lonely bliss of the cosmos.

Kwanyin is name of a popular buddha in China. kwan(guan1) means view, observe, watch, etc. yin(yin1) means music, sound, sonic existence, information, etc.
since June of 2005, Waterland Kwanyin is the first open plate for experimental, improvised musicians/artists who live or transiently in Beijing. as the idea from KwanYin Records, it offers opportunities for artists from different background who now (or in the future) be into free music, e.g. abstract and spiritual sound, field recording mix, noise, electroacoustic, as well visual art, body performance, etc.
also combined with film screenning, lecture, workshop and special party.
