Aaron Hull is an Australian sound and video artist working primarily with processed field and instrumental recordings. His current work, both sound and visual, examines the corroded memory. Aaron creates in his performances an intimate sonic landscape, that evokes a personal insight into periods and places of the artists past and present.
Aaron is the curator of the monthly performance series ?_inch in Sydney and Wollongong, which has been responsible for delivering a varied program for emerging, established and touring international artists.

Aaron Hull

Aaron Hull是来自澳大利亚的声音和录象艺术家，他主要的工作是处理田野及乐器录音。他目前的工作，兼备声音和视频，是对侵蚀的记忆的考察。Aaron在自己的表演中建立起私密的声音风景，它唤醒了有关艺术家的过去和现在的私人视野。

The exploration and aural realisation into the inner workings of digital and analogue media are a prime motivation, as is the use of “simplistic” methods and sounds. The utilization of audio glitches, errors and artifacts, either inflicted through methods of equipment abuse or simply “found” within equipment are a point of focus and explored through improvisation, with a strong notion of simplicity prevalent in the final aural outcome. Examples of sound sources are those produced by a broken CD or “unwanted” sounds found in “silent” audio equipment, one example being “no input mixing” through a mixing desk. In addition, the use of unorthodox guitar techniques is another sound source utilised. In many instances, the mentioned media is abused or “set” in a way that will induce error. For instance; a CD maybe drawn on to create random/unorthodox/malfunctioning playback, or the guitar maybe prepared in a manner to produce sounds not commonly associated with the instrument. The resulting sounds are played/manipulated and structured in real time exploring the notion of the ordering/directing of unorthodox equipment use, errors and their workings.

Yan Jun

Yan Jun, Sound artist, improviser. A well-known music critic, poet and driving force of China’s indie music and sub-culture scene for years. Now involved to 90% of new music/sound events in Beijing. Yan was born in Lanzhou in 1973, now lives and works in Beijing. He holds B.A. degree in Chinese Language & Literature. Yan runs the new music labels Sub Jam and Kwanyin Records, as well as Waterland Kwanyin and One Plus, two weekly events of experimental / improv music and sound art. He has also initiated Tie Guan Yin, a free-form electroacoustic improv project.

Yan performs with effect pedals, voice, laptop, sound forks, contact microphone and everything else. His style is about meditation / ritualism, new-minimalism, low-frequencies / sinewave, drone throat-singing, field recording, free improv and sometimes noise, which can be collectively described with his own coinage “Artificial Soundscape”.

颜峻
颜峻，声音艺术家，即兴演奏者，诗人。作为乐评人和独立音乐/艺术活动策划人，在中国地下/独立文化场景中活跃多年。1973年生于兰州，毕业于西北师范大学中文系，Sub Jam（铁托）和观音（KwanYin）厂牌创办者，铁观音乐队创建者。现居住和工作在北京，主持实验音乐和艺术系列活动“水陆观音”、“壹家”。

水陆观音：
一个有关声音、音乐、艺术和环境的系列交流活动。
每周二晚上，免费入场，室内演出，室外赋闲。
2005年6月以来，北京第一个向实验/即兴音乐家、艺术家开放的交流平台。包容来自不同背景的表演者，鼓励自由即兴和实验探索，力图促成更多的合作，激发表演者和观众的想象力，并混淆他们之间的区别。它延续观音唱片的宗旨——追求精神性的实验音乐和影像，追求表演和环境的沟通统一，探讨、促进新音乐的生态环境。

所有艺人免费演出；颜峻和他的朋友们免费工作；酒吧免费提供场地和设备；夏虫免费鸣唱。

Kwanyin is name of a popular buddha in China. kwan(guan1) means view, observe, watch, etc. yin(yin1) means music, sound, sonic existence, information, etc.
since June of 2005, Waterland Kwanyin is the first open plate for experimental, improvised musicians/artists who live or transiently in Beijing. as the idea from KwanYin Records, it offers opportunities for artists from different background who now (or in the future) be into free music, e.g. abstract and spiritual sound, field recording mix, noise, electroacoustic, as well visual art, body performance, etc.
also combined with film screenning, lecture, workshop and special party.
artists perform for free. Yan Jun and his friends work for this for free. the bar provide space and equipments for free. summer insects sing for free.
