FAQ

时间大约是2004年3月到4月间的4个星期一，每次大约2到3小时，上下两节。地点是后海老白的无名地下酒吧，在庆云楼隔壁。这个酒吧很快因为地下室不许卖酒的规定而停业整顿，然后改成了别的样子。窦唯多数时间都用调饮料的塑料棒敲鼓，偶尔也玩键盘、朗诵。老赵弹一把朋友送的破吉他，还有笔记本，有一天还专门穿了AC/DC，最安静的时候，他其实都在狂做金属手势。张荐是键盘、风琴、笔记本、ipod等等。录音也是他，用RODE NT4挂在头顶收音。一共得到7个多小时录音。
之后张荐剪了几个不同的版本，除了这张，我觉得还可以再发两张，就看国内有没有人感兴趣了。
去年荷兰的Bifrons基金会做了一套DVD，其中一张是这个，用了2分钟现场录音，视频是德国70年代很有名的视觉艺术家Anna & Bernhard J. Blume。
有一天，张荐打电话来说今天是观音生日，咱准备点相关的素材吧。后来我起了个名字，叫《后海观音》，再缩写一下，就是《后观音》了。而观音唱片的由来，也是那段时间，在酒吧里，老赵出主意说，应该在Sub Jam之外再做一个厂牌，我觉得观音挺好，观察声音，就这么定了。
当时酒吧里有3个投影，是武权的三个巨慢巨飞的作品，也就是后来的DVD《观》。
当时我已经和FM3、王凡、武权搞了几次“十夜谈”声音环境活动，我拿CD机之类加上朗诵，刚开始掺和进去。到后海的时候，是第一次正经在音乐场合掺和，用了人声、CD、ipod，基本都是采样别人的作品，和一些实地录音，唯一用上的“乐器”是拿钥匙碰高脚杯玩。那天是张荐生日，长一点的版本里好象还录到了侯瀚如打招呼的声音。
刚开始，除了观察，没有别的办法掺和进去。后来就一直观了下去。
所以说，这个唱片对我来说，其实很有纪念意义。

Dead J（邵彦棚）

中国新生代电音势力的重要代表之一。
被激发于德国数码硬核的灵感之源，独立朋克精神贯穿于早期作品。曾用DEAD J、DEAD K、DISK J名义多次发表单曲。并与 SULUMI 组成乐队 PANDA TWIN ，活跃于北京的舞台。2004年开始转向并拓宽了自身的音乐创作思路，2005年初完成首张个人专辑《心象》。

Biography：
German’s digital hardcore inspired Shao Yanpeng, with the spirit of independent punk in his early works.
Publish different kinds of music under the name Dead J, Dead K, Disk J. He joined Panda Twin at the early year of 2004.
At the beginning of 2005, he finished his first solo album.
As one of the important representatives of China’s new generation electronic scene, Dead J（Shao Yanpeng) was known firstly from “Crush Mongolia” in the China-Japan collective electric music album “Yellow Peril”which was edited by Feng Jiangzhou. From then on, he began the cooperation with Shanshui label leaded by Sun Dawei. In the following compilation published by Shanshui, his single”Girl power” and the former piece are the rear breakcore work which mix hard noise style in China.
In the year 2003, Dead J began to try different kinds of experimental music. At the same time he did remix work for different artists including Aitai(Shanghai’s industrial band),78bpm(Downtempo from Taiwan ),and Japanese electrical musician Cdr.
In Oct 2003, Dead J cooperated with Mexico’s experimental music label “Poro”. He published his work”Click lick clicks” in the album “Flesh and Pink Milk”. Dead j communicated with artists from Mexico, Poland and other places all the time. He exchanged and made remix work with mexico noise band “Tuareg Geeks” from German’s label “DHR”.
At the beginning of 2004, Dead J and Sulumi(Sun Dawei) rebuilt duo band “Panda Twin”. They frequently gave live show in Beijing. A little bit later, they accepted the interview from American music magazine “GROOVE”.
Since May 2004, Dead J joined the drama “Maze” directed by Meng Jinghui and took the charge of motion effects design work. “Maze” was the first stage drama, which use a lot of motion effect. Dead J joined the performances for nearly 100 times.
In Aug 2004, Dead J published single “Children Magic” in album “Charming Playlist” by Modern Sky Company.
At the end of year 2004, four pieces of his music was in the album “Green Pepper & Cacti” by Shanshui.
In April 2005, signed with Modern Sky for his solo album “Mental imagery”.
In April 2005, published single “Sound 006” in album “The Sound of Silence Project” which was a sound album by China, Hong Kong and Poland’s artists.

铁观音
这是一支成员不确定的乐队，人数越多，他们的音乐就越安静。
他们的风格可以描述为EAI（electro-acoustic improvisation），结合了数字和模拟声音、抽象和乐器声音的纯粹即兴音乐。
铁观音，名词，1，乌龙茶的一种，产于福建安溪。2，铁托+观音，独立音乐厂牌Sub Jam（铁托工作室）和实验音乐厂牌观音唱片的结合体。3，静心以观声、观音，以承受各种声音和寂静。

tie guan yin

tie guan yin (project) is a duo, trio, quartet, quintet, sextet, septet or ensemble (depending to how many members are available) which dedicate to free and spiritual improv music. it’s a kind of EAI (electro-acoustic improvisation) which melting with digital and analogy sound, abstract and musical sound.
tie guan yin is name of a kind of tea leaf, meaning is iron kwanyin buddha; it’s also joint quibble for “tie tuo” (chinese title of sub jam) and “kwanyin”, the two labels which established for chinese indie and experimental music/art. in chinese pronunciation, guan yin also means to observe all sonic phenomena and silence.

Zafka （张安定）
1979年1月，出生。湖南人。
1998年11月至2001年，在上海组建布拉格之春乐队，担任吉他手，偏重实验噪音和即兴演奏。
20002年，乐队重组更名为布拉格，风格转向后摇滚。6月录制第一张唱片《Printemps》并告别演出。
2004年9月，在广州，开始以zafka的名义进行个人创作。
2004年10月，发表第一张电子乐Ep《Vacation Dreamer On the 17th Floor》。
2004年11月，开始尝试声音艺术创作。
2005年7-8月，在上海。录制布拉格乐队第二张唱片《Bridge》。8月20日，与戈多乐队在上海新天地ARK专场演出。
2005年9月，与钟敏杰，林志英，陈刚和覃岛组建“二十一楼”。
2005年12月，参加“二十一楼”K房计划之“众声芸说”演出，正式发表《12 Hours：Sound Actions For Your Secret Lover》。
2006年1月至6月，为曹斐西门子艺术项目“What are you doing here”做声音设计，并出版唱片《Whose Utopia》。

ZHANG Anding (Zafka)

Born in Hunan, China, January, 1979.
1998.11 - 2001: Started experimental noise/improv band Prague Spring in Shanghai, played as guitarist.
2002: Prague Spring was renamed Prague with a new lineup, style drifted towards post-rock. Finished the first album Printemps in June and disbanded.
2004.9: Started his own composition as Zafka in Guangzhou.
2004.10: Released his first electronica EP Vacation Dreamer on the 17th Floor.
2004.11: Began to compose sound art.
2005.7 - 8: Recorded Prague’s 2nd album Bridge in Shanghai. Played with Godot at Ark, Xintiandi, Shanghai on Aug. 20.
2005.9: Launched the 21floor project with Justin Zhong, LIN Zhiying, CHEN Gang & Thom CHIN in Guangzhou.
2005.12: Performed on “Sonic Brouhaha”, the debut show of 21floor. Released his first album 12 Hours: Sound Actions for Your Secret Lover.
2006.1-6: Cooperated with Caofei on her Simens Art Programme “What Are You Doing Here” and design the soundtracks. Released the ablum .

fathmount

fathmount is Wilson Lee from Hong Kong’s experimental duo “new fairfield parks and recreation”. By playing 6-string guitar, mics and mixer feedbacks, fathmount makes itself an improvising project that combines noise drone/ electro-acoustics and folk. Performed/collaborated with Brad Rose, Birchville Cat Motel, Antony Milton, FM3 and recently Valerio Cosi. Completed 3 records “6-string renderings 1 & 2″ (releasing on Newamericanfolkhero and later Foxglove) and “continuum overflow”.

kwanyin is name of a popular buddha in china, kwan(guan2) means view, observe, watch, etc. yin(yin1) means music, sound, sonic existence, information, etc.
it’s the first open plate for experimental, improvised musicians/artists who live or transiently in beijing. as the idea from kwanyin records, it offers opportunities for artists from different background who now (or in the future) be into free music, i.e. abstract and spiritual sound, field recording mix, noise, as well visual art, body performance, etc.

友川カズキ，kazuki tomokawa，民谣艺人。PSF正在力推他，出了两张DVD，13张的唱片套装，等等。

第一次看见他，是在三池崇史2004的《以藏》（izo）里。那是一个很疯的电影，因为日本的cult类型片早就有了自己的风格，所以这种反刍方式也不像美国人学习B级片。生猛得一塌糊涂，极端，道具和化妆仍然是时代剧年代的粗糙感觉。据说里面杀来杀去杀了有200人，全是这一个被仇恨异化了的以藏干的。他不断穿越时空，像坐着一架失灵的时间机器，或者干脆就是一个倒霉的没有归属的孤魂野鬼，一边杀，一边还撞见神经兮兮的友川カズキ在那弹琴唱歌。那歌唱的，半喊，半哭喊，半神经质的喊，经常就哑掉在那里。普通的民谣，被唱成了正好用weird这个独立圈常用词来形容的怪样子。是怪，不是搞怪，因为他不年轻，也不搞，他天生怪。
说是日本的迷幻民谣和情绪歌曲之神。眼下在欧美也火得不行。诗人。又称“嚎叫的哲学家”。
然后看了PSF出的DVD，2003年在渋谷アピア・ライヴ的几个现场。鼓手都是石塚俊明，钢琴/手风琴/曼陀铃是永畑雅人。强，石塚俊明可是和灰野、三上宽合作组了vajra，出过5张专辑那位，以前是“头脑警察”的成员。爱死了他的演奏，前进摇滚、爵士、后摇滚，随便怎么说，但都只有一点，他的含蓄和挥洒是一体的。永畑雅人不熟，他的演奏有点太规范，连用肘、手背敲出来的不和谐音都那么和谐干净准确，最大的特色就是他用很稳定的节奏像机器一样演奏所有的风格和元素，哪怕是爵士，至于古典那就规范得像流行了。
终于有机会仔细看看友川カズキ。其实他长得就那样，其实他很放松。那种怪不是做出来的，是因为他根本不觉得那是怪，而尽情表达和释放出来的，他貌似声嘶力竭，但面部肌肉一点也不紧张。他就是严肃，眼神深而静，停留在远方某处。他张得很好看，是那种美国电影明星的胚子，又不那样大众化，尽情地怪了下去，颧骨和张艺谋一样属于底层劳动人民，嘴角多少有点冷漠和嘲讽，摆明了看破红尘。一副苦相，细看却不穷不酸不破落不悲愁，简称苦大发了。
玩怪东西，心要大，要装得下。装下了就没有苦了，只有无味。无味中爆发出来的嚎叫，不是个人的，与“我”无关，也不是奴隶的抱怨和反抗。他眼中的风景，一般人的心胸是装不下的，所以只好说那是悲苦和激烈。其实他也不激烈，所有的爆发之后的平静，都如同世间其他爆发之后的平静一样，干干净净，无处惹尘埃。
他的歌词当然是诗，连不懂日文的我都直觉是诗。整个人的风格也是，很文学，很传统。西装口袋里插着两支笔。他唱歌，像60年代以来就没有变过，那时候的日本愤青，那时侯的民谣吉他吟唱诗人，想必就是这样。
他和jandek有得一拼，尽管jandek坚持用不懂音乐的方式来懂音乐，而他的吉他演奏还堪称优秀，变调夹，高把位，快速而娴熟。相比之下，周云蓬的孤独还太小气，小河的怪还缺底气，杨一的野才刚上路，小索若是还在，可以和张全一起向他学习疼，王磊若是还在唱民谣，就对照出了激情是如何节约、集中起来的……如果说可以向胡德夫学习坚持，那么可以向这位前辈学习的，就是怎么样提纯生命。
他画画，颜色……是透明的。
